$99 Home Energy Analysis ($300 value)

More than 35% of your energy bills could be leaking out of your home

It's true. Unintentional leaks in your home's envelope – which includes seals around windows, doors, ventilation, ducts and insulation – typically account for the largest portion of wasted energy.
BrightSave Home uses a systems approach to analyzing your home's energy performance.
Utilizing the latest innovations in building science, our energy experts will perform a comprehensive in-home energy analysis that will help you prioritize improvement projects that deliver the most energy savings at the best value.
When you are ready to get started, our partner contractors are specially trained in UniSource Energy Services' construction and equipment requirements to make sure you get the most out of your investment.
Depending on your home and selected projects, you could save up to 35% on your annual heating and cooling costs. Homes built prior to 2000 will typically achieve the greatest savings.

How It Works

A UES energy expert, certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) , will conduct a complete diagnostic test of your home's energy performance. Participants also will receive a free Home Energy Savings Kit. For electric customers, the kit includes the installation of up to 10 compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) in high-traffic areas and a "smart power strip" that eliminates idle power consumption by automatically shutting off after appliances are no longer in use. For gas customers, the kit includes the installation of a water-saving low flow showerhead and up to three faucet aerators.
Full of bright solutions to help you save energy and save money, our energy expert will:
  • Perform a complete interior and exterior home analysis, including ductwork, mechanical systems, appliances, attic and wall insulation and air leakage.
  • Perform a Combustion Safety Test on all gas fired appliances to ensure they operate in a safe and healthy manner.
  • Complete a survey with you regarding your energy usage and input details to calculate your energy costs. Identify energy saving opportunities.
  • Install items in your Home Energy Savings Kit, with your permission, so you can immediately start saving energy and saving money.
  • Provide a customized energy report recommending energy efficiency improvements.
  • Identify estimated costs, potential energy savings and your return on investment for the proposed energy efficiency improvements, as well as provide details for rebates and incentives to help you save even more money.
  • Provide a list of trained and qualified contractors in the area that can perform the proposed improvements.

A BrightSave Home energy analysis views your home as a system

Hot and cold rooms, slamming doors and a frequently cycling compressor motor are all symptoms of an out-of-balance HVAC system.
Poor performance in one part of the system has a cascading effect that, if neglected, can damage equipment and increase your daily energy costs.
BrightSave Home energy experts take a scientific approach to recommending steps to bring your home HVAC back to harmony for maximum comfort and energy efficiency.
  • Ductwork – leaky air ducts are often hidden in attics and hard-to-see areas, but can be responsible for wasted energy in your home.
  • Insulation and air sealing – attic and wall insulation is one of the most important materials that make your home energy efficient and comfortable. Over time, insulation breaks down or moves and loses its ability to resist heat flow. Gaps in air sealing allow drafts to pass through your insulation similar to a fiberglass furnace filter.
  • Heating and cooling equipment – when replacing older units with more energy-efficient equipment, look beyond just the SEER rating. BrightSave Home qualified contractors will verify your new HVAC system is properly sized for your home's air balance and ventilation requirements.

According to the Department of Energy, "Heating and cooling account for about 56% of the energy use in a typical U.S. home, making it the largest energy expense for most homes."

More efficiency, more savings Trane matched systems are designed to give you the best performance from your heating and cooling dollars. A high-efficiency Trane matched system calls on fewer resources when in use, so you save more energy. With lower energy cost, a more efficient system is a wiser choice in the long term.
